Just in case you haven’t heard of it – I’d like to introduce you to a fabulous and helpful book called ‘The Word-Loss Diet’ by Rayne Hall.
I’ve never had so much fun with writing than discovering the art of deleting a bunch of unnecessary words. My first book in the Saviour of Souls Series had 5,000 unnecessary words deleted from it, making it tighter and more enjoyable to read. Words such as slightly, really and just can be deleted without you losing any of the story plot. This book helped me realise you don’t have to use adverbs to describe, but to use tighter and more specific verbs.
This is great for self-editing!
